Hub I project

A Flagship Project in Clean Production of Critical Minerals

Hub I project
Hub I project

our flagship Project

Hub I turns legacy asbestos tailings into three saleable, low-carbon products - high-purity MgO, SCM-grade silica, and Ni/Co MHP - while regenerating process reagents on-site. The result: lower OPEX, smaller waste footprint, and faster path to permits and financing. Located in Québec and powered by clean hydro, Hub I is the world's largest asbestos tailings rehabilitation project and Exterra's commercial proof point that modern mineral processing can be profitable, scalable, and responsible.

What is Hub One

Why is Hub I Strategic?

Hub I is the first commercial integration of Exterra’s platform - ARC™ reagent regeneration with proven hydrometallurgy - to convert multicentury serpentine tailings into products with no new waste. By regenerating acid and base on-site, Hub I cuts chemical spend and trucking, eliminates neutralization waste, and stabilizes margins through cycles. Beyond production, Hub I is the reference plant that accelerates the deployment of ARC-based flowsheets across commodities.

Why It Matters

On-site reagent regeneration is designed to beat delivered, single use chemicals cost. Cutting logistics and tailings generation.

Hub I proves that on-site reagent regeneration beats trucked, single-use chemicals - shrinking OPEX, stabilizing input costs, and lifting margins through cycles. It’s the first commercial reference where regenerated-acid economics flip from liability to advantage.

Better unit economics and circular flows translate into simpler approvals and faster financing. Hub I is the bankable proof point that moves projects from studies to steel-in-the-ground sooner.

Hub I provides the bankable reference that enables rapid adoption across commodities and projects.
